Choosing Toast & Jam was one of the easiest decisions we made for our wedding — Emily was the only DJ we met! Music is a big thing for us, and Emily added the perfect details and touches at every moment. From the ceremony music, to old favorites and even working in some college-era rap, it was everything we wanted and so reflective of us. Even though we only briefly mentioned it, Emily took note of things that were important to our family — from father of the bride favorites to the groom’s sister’s own first dance song. Plus, Emily was really responsive to our questions. We didn’t have a planner, and she also kept us on track and made sure all the speeches and dances went off without a hitch. It could not have been a better night, and we could have danced well into the wee hours!

We are so glad we worked with Toast and Jams to DJ our Chicago wedding! We met with DJ Shannon as we were leading up to the wedding; she was organized and took the time to understand our music tastes and all of the details associated with the night! She coordinated set-up flawlessly, supported AV needs during dinner and of course, did an amazing job DJ’ing the dance party! She knew our tastes and read the crowd perfectly, people were dancing all night! Not to mention, Shannon is so kind and professional; she will ease all of your wedding music worries in an instant. DJ Karin was awesome to work with! She was always professional and responded to our messages quickly. She asked the right questions (things we hadn’t even thought of) and gave us suggestions when we didn’t have ideas about music. All of the contract details and payment information was clear and easy to deal with. With the two pre-wedding meetings (which we could do over phone/Skype) and the extensive song list we were given to review, we felt prepared, like there wasn’t anything for us to worry about on our wedding day. And that was true! Karin came up to us at the reception to introduce herself to us in person, but we didn’t have to think about or do anything related to the music on our wedding day. She took care of her own set-up (spoke directly to our venue to coordinate) and played a steady mix for cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. We personally enjoyed the music which flowed throughout the night, and we received many compliments about our DJ. Karin did a wonderful job as an emcee and had a calm, easygoing, fun, professional vibe. She facilitated the speeches, special dances, and announcements perfectly. We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ.

From our initial meeting with Norah to our farewell at the end of our reception, our experience was perfection. Norah did an amazing job helping us craft a timeline and music selection that kept our guests moving and dancing the whole night long. Our wedding was anything but traditional — we surprised our guests with the ceremony — and Norah helped ground the evening and give it the significance we were looking for. During the planning process and day-of, Norah felt like family. Her suggestions about the flow of the evening were spot on. Our friends and family were so excited with each new song that came on — one guest kept writing them down for her own wedding later this year. We hadn’t planned on having a wedding at all, and Norah’s contribution to the experience is a big part of why we’re so happy we ultimately did.

I attended a Toast and Jam wedding in the fall of 2015 and it was the best dance party I had ever attended. When it came time to plan my own wedding, they were the first phone call. We live in Florida, so getting married in Chicago was always going to be a challenge. Thankfully, our DJ Alli was one less thing to worry about. Norah Utley was the best! She worked closely with us to develop the exact right playlists for our wedding. During dinner I remember telling Norah that she was playing the exact music that I would play if we were having guests over. She was helpful and accommodating in incorporating just the right music to make the night special. She was friendly and professional, and meshed well with the restaurant management. She met with us twice prior to the night as well as several emails throughout the process. We always felt well taken care of and informed as to everything DJ and music related. I was skeptical of hiring a wedding DJ, but from our first meeting Norah laid all my fears to rest.

When it came time to hire a DJ for our wedding, there was only one choice: Toast & Jam. All of my friends who’d had especially fun and memorable weddings had used them, so we knew we would, too. We went into the night with high expectations, and Tabitha did not disappoint. We Skyped with her a couple of times before the wedding to talk about what kind of music we liked and didn’t like, and we were able to send her a list of songs we’d like to hear, as well as songs we wouldn’t. We didn’t have to worry about goofy songs like The Chicken Dance or ​“Red Solo Cup” because these are already on Toast & Jam’s company do-not-play list. Tabitha put together an amazing playlist, politely declined to take requests, and made sure everyone had a great time! At one point about an hour into dancing, nearly everyone was still on the dance floor, including my 90-year old grandmother. Tabitha was also super accommodating of my husband’s surprise boy band dance and made sure that she didn’t spoil the surprise for me. Seriously, look no further. Hire Tabitha, and you and your guests will have the most fabulous time dancing the night away!
