T&J really did great match-making when they gave us Emily. When we first met Emily, her enthusiasm for her work was contagious (and really got my then-fiancée excited!). As you can imagine there was a lot of time between our first meeting and when we finally starting getting down to fine-tuning the playlist. Emily zigged and zagged with our outrageously diverse requests and was able to put the songs together in a way that had people dancing all night. I told her from the beginning I wanted no sleepy music, no warm-up music…I wanted it to kickstart from the beginning. And when I mean ALL NIGHT, I mean they were throwing their arms in the air and wiggling in their seats during dinner and singing into imaginary microphones. Our first dance, she turned up the volume so the song could be heard in your bones (not sure if that was intentional but it was perfect!). After that, it was, as she said ‘epic levels of dancing’. Our 80’s meets 90’s meets country playlist was a hit. I have one guy on crutches he danced so hard with his high kicks and splits. I can honestly say I ONLY missed 2 songs (a girl needs a cocktail and a break!)…I haven’t danced that hard since SOUTH BEACH circa 2005. My dress was trashed, I was sweating bullets and my friends and family are still in disbelief at how great the jam was. On top of her talent and just wonderful demeanor, she was organized, professional, and made sure my requests were honored above all. Being a type‑A business person, that was quite frankly a pleasant surprise. Thank you EMILY for the rockin dance floor and the wedding I always wanted.

I feel so lucky to have found Alli Klein of Toast and Jam to DJ my wedding!! Alli was amazing!! She was so incredibly organized and ON TOP of every little detail that truly made our wedding spectacular. Not only does she know any song that you throw out to her, but she is so passionate about music that you can’t help but totally vibe with her. I met with her in person twice in addition to many emails back and forth to make sure that everything was all set. We essentially set up a different theme for each section of the wedding — ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and dancing — and it was PERFECT!! All the guests were approaching me to compliment the wonderful music selection. It completely represented our musical taste as a couple and Alli totally NAILED it! She even went that extra mile to mix and blend a special song for our first dance — which had been choreographed. Through both her DJ work AND her fantastic personality, she was an amazing and VERY important part of the celebration. It was such an incredible time, I wish I could live it all again!

We were at a wedding a couple of years ago and couldn’t stop talking about how much we loved the DJ. Come to find out, it was Rachel from T&J! We decided right then that when we decided to get married, we’d need to check out this awesome DJ. Rachel was so much fun to work with. The planning meetings were so easy as Rachel walked us through a sample timeline and we talked through things that we liked/disliked music-wise. We had a few weird requests going in and she managed to flawlessly work them into the night. She played all of our favorites (without being asked to, she just knew!) and our dance floor was packed the entire night. She was also a fantastic emcee, always calm and laid back, making the night flow exactly as we hoped. We never had to worry for a second that anything would go wrong. We loved working with Rachel and highly recommend her!!

When we met Caitlin in Wicker Park, we had an instant girl crush on her. After meeting with another DJ option (who looked like every overweight middle aged type who was at all of your middle school dances) who volunteered to download whatever we wanted even though he hadn’t heard of it, Caitlin was like a breath of fresh air. We showed her our favorite 80’s, 90’s and now party playlist and a list of bands that we’d seen together and we were vibing. From there, we signed on the dotted line, completed our do not play list, comprised of organized dances and jams that require jumping, and had a beer together at our venue. As our wedding grew closer, friends who we had asked to play music during our ceremony got cold feet and Caitlin was ready to swoop in and save the day. She came early, got set up, and ran the show. Our ceremony was on stage downstairs at the Bottom Lounge and just like our venue, our music was anything but traditional, but it was heartfelt and everyone in the audience knew that it was very ‘us’. Cocktail hour flew by, and before we knew it Caitlin was announcing the wedding party’s entrance into the reception area upstairs. Her spunk was more than just being a good DJ, she was genuinely happy, excited and invested in our relationship. In addition to tearing up during our ceremony, she also admitted to crying during my dad’s speech and agreed that our maid of honor and best man nailed it with their toasts that included a Will Smith spin off and Remix To Ignition lyrics. When they say that your wedding day flies by, you know ‘they’ are right, but you don’t realize how fast it happens until it’s over. At some point I swapped my heels for the bin of flip flops by the dance floor, and I made memories dancing with my husband, father, best friends, new family, and my grandparents. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding with such a variety of people filling the dance floor all night. Our whole wedding day was perfect but it never would have been the same without the music, and so we owe so many thanks to Caitlin, who made our wedding what it was — a perfect and memorable night that we, and our guests, will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you Caitlin. Thank you so much.

Karin Fjellman is out of this world! From our first meeting we were hooked. She was very professional and just got what we were looking for in the evening. Needless to say, the music selection was incredible. Half the time I felt like Karin must have stolen my itunes library and the other half time I wish I had the songs she was playing in my music collection. We had an endless line of guests coming up to us and asking if we picked out the music or who our DJ was. The truth is that we picked out 5 – 10 songs and the rest was pure DJ skills. Karin kept everyone on the dance floor: young and old. It was amazing to see all of our aunts, uncles, cousins and friends rocking out to the same songs. I’m convinced this would not have happened without Karin!

Emily killed it! She was instrumental in making the wedding timeline and atmosphere a success; she really knew how to read and work the crowd. She provided great advice and guidance for how the evening would run – including the dances, announcements, and cadence of the songs. She incorporated our song selections and notes perfectly, then added her own flare and did her ‘DJ-thing’ wonderfully. Emily inspired confidence in the entire process and delivered a top notch evening. She and Toast & Jam are highly recommended by us.

Rebecca did an AWESOME job at our wedding! We just gave her a few songs we definitely wanted to hear and she had them ready to go, other than that she read the crowd and kept the party going. Everything sounded great and the whole set up was very professional. I don’t think the dance floor was empty all night! Thanks again for making our night so memorable…

My husband and I weren’t going to get a DJ because we hate the cheesy “hey hey hey” man who has the strobe lighting and glow stick feel. I’m SO incredibly thankful that a friend referred me to Toast and Jam as a “refreshing compliment to the already beautiful day” and those words fit Caitlin and her traits perfectly! You’ll read the reviews that they are so good at what they do (beat matching, pitch fixing, reading the crowds, etc) but what my husband and I were very surprised about was how knowledgeable Caitlin was about the entire day, order of events, etc. She made us think about things we would have totally forgotten and truly took every ounce of stress away from me by thoroughly covering all bases in our 2 meetings together. (i.e. who’s going to do the blessing, when are you going to cut the cake, do you want the father of the bride to make a thank you speech or would you 2 like to) — those are things that never even crossed our minds and she helped us get our ducks in a row. It’s super refreshing to have a wedding vendor who isn’t in it for the money. They don’t treat you like a business transaction but more of an awesome compliment to making the day perfect. I highly, highly recommend Caitlin and the entire staff of Toast and Jam!
