DJ Elam

Pronouns: they/them

Music is Elam’s life, but that is to be expected as their grandparents met at the Green Mill. Elam's childhood home was behind Ravinia, so they spent many a weekend hearing amazing concerts over the fence, though their first intentional concert was Shania Twain (That DO impressa me much). The nature AND nurture of all that led to Elam becoming a musician, composer, DJ, and, most importantly, an all around music nerd. When they are not composing music and short film scores, honking on an alto sax (see also: piano, guitar, flute, or cello), or belting out Barbra at karaoke, they can be found bopping to Swedish synth pop and Carly Rae (and really, any dance music, they ain’t picky!). They also volunteer for Girls Rock! Chicago, a summer band camp for girls and gender expansive kids. When not all consumed with music projects, Elam can be found sewing matching outfits for themself and their two Chihuahuas, Farfel & Yentl (they’d involve their cats, Lola and Luciano, but don’t want to be clawed in the face), cutting hair (they are a licensed barber!), obsessing over Bruce Lee, or reading tarot.

“We couldn't be happier with our wedding DJ, Elam! From the very beginning, they took the time to consult with us on our music preferences and the vibes we wanted throughout the night. On the day of the event, Elam was prompt and professional with the setup, ensuring everything was perfect. Elam created an amazing mix for the cocktail hour and handled all the mics for toasts with professionalism. But the best part was when the dance floor opened! Elam kept the party going for hours, seamlessly…”
